Perfect for the vegetarian in your life, Paneer Masala is a meat-free alternative to chicken tikka masala. With marinated paneer cheese served in a spiced up gravy, this dish is sure to be a hit.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of the fried cubed paneer
- ½ cup shelled peas
- 1 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
- 1 cup water
- ½ teaspoon of grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh cilantro
- ½ teaspoon of finely chopped fresh hot green pepper
- 1 teaspoons of salt
- ¾ teaspoon garam masala
- ½ teaspoon dry turmeric powder
- ¼ teaspoon of dry red chili powder
- ¾ teaspoon of dry coriander powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon cooking oil (vegetable preferred)
Process
- Heat the oil in a skillet
- Once the oil is hot, add onions, cumin, chopped hot green pepper, and grated ginger
- When the onions are golden brown, add peas
- Stir mixture
- Add chopped tomatoes
- Stir and cover the pot for about 3 minutes
- Add salt, turmeric, red chili, coriander powder, and water
- Cover the pot and lower the heat to 4
- Cook mixture for about 15 minutes, by which time the oil should have separated
- Add fried cubed paneer and stir very lightly
- Add garam masala, stir lightly
- Transfer mixture to the serving dish
- Garnish with finely chopped fresh cilantro
